Happy New Year! I'm in the process of changing out my decor from Christmas to a more simple wintery feel, and I put together a few ideas to share with you. These are some of the things I'd like to incorporate into our home as we begin the new year.

:: GREENERY

Whether it's faux or real, adding wintery greens makes a space feel cozy. Stay away from greens that look too Christmasy, but there is no reason not to keep greens that have a wintery feel.

:: WALL LIGHTING

I'm working on turning a corner in our family room into a reading nook and am adding a wall light that plugs in so that I don't have to hard-wire it. I love the trend of adding wall lighting to spaces!

:: FAUX FUR RUGS

I have a fur rug in my bedroom, and it feels so cozy! You can use a rug on the floor or drape it over a couch or bench.

:: BUFFALO CHECK

I have several buffalo check pillows on my couches in the family room and love them. They look somewhat traditional and are a fun neutral to use in the wintertime.

:: DARK FURNITURE

I love the idea of painting a piece of furniture a dark color, like this beautiful dresser done in navy and walnut.

:: BIRCH CANDLES

There is something so wintery and rustic about using birch candles holders around the house.
