This is our busiest time of the year in the workshop and studio. Things can feel overwhelming really quickly, but I'm so thankful for this business of ours and the gift it is to our family! This morning I thought I'd share a few random things that have been going in in my life lately.
:: Whole30 | A friend and I completed the Whole30 program recently. If you aren't familiar with it, you can check out the website, but it's basically an eating program where you take out foods that could be causing you issues for 30 days. That means no dairy, sugar, grains, and legumes. Then you re-enter the foods back into your system after 30 days.
Why did I do the program? Purely out of curiosity. And because I love a challenge. Because I didn't have any issues with food to begin with and typically have a high level of energy, I really didn't experience many positive side effects from doing the program. Doing the program was harder than I thought it would be for sure. I typically eat a lot of dairy and taking that out was probably the hardest thing for me. Prepping meals took a lot of thought and time. I became an expert at chopping vegetables and potatoes. The rest of my family ate regularly for breakfast and lunch, then I made dinner for all of us that was Whole30 compliant. I did find some really good recipes that I will keep making. Here are some of my favorites...
Quick Chili - I omitted the beans, sour cream and cheese.
Pioneer Woman's Hamburger Soup
Creamy Ham & Potato Soup (so good!)
During the program I was so tired of eating eggs every single day and constantly thinking about food and had the biggest smile on my face when it was OVER. However, the program made me realize what is in the food I'm eating, and it made me much more conscious about the food choices that I make for me and my family, which is good.
:: Endeavor - This is a show from Masterpiece that's available on Amazon, and it's the best thing I've watched in a long time. It follows a detective in England in the 1960's and is so well-done. I'm actually watching it a second time now. So good.
:: Jerry Before Seinfeld - Jerry Seinfeld's latest comedy special available on Netflix is really good. I love anything he does.
:: Podcasts - Some of the newest podcasts I'm listening to:
:: Building a StoryBrand book by Donald Miller - This is a must-read for anyone who owns a business. It's easy to read but very applicable.
