Last weekend we gave our upstairs bathroom a much-needed face lift. The bathroom was truly awful - the old wallpaper was peeling, the tile countertop was all broken, and the tile on the walls looked dingy and dirty. We painted pretty much every surface. The ceiling, walls and trim, wall tiles, and floor tiles. If you are wondering about the wall color (isn't it pretty?), I didn't want to buy more paint, so I mixed together three different colors and got this dark blue/gray color. Unfortunately, I don't have a color name to give you!

There's a small window in the bathroom, and I thought a hanging planter would look really sweet there. I really liked this one from Target but didn't want to spend $20 for it. So I started looking around for a more affordable option.

I found a hanging terra cotta pot (the color was like the one below) at Michaels. I can't find it online, but it's available in-store. I didn't like the orange color, so I decided to paint it.

I painted the terra cotta pot with one coat of Americana acrylic craft paint in Slate Gray.

When it dried, I painted it with a coat of Waverly white wax that I picked up from Walmart. I painted it on, then wiped it off right away, so that it just filled in the cracks and softened the gray a bit.

It created a concrete-looking pot that I loved! I planted a small fern that I already had in the pot. I'm hoping it will survive for a while!
